What the number means

This is the spot price of gold (XAU/USD) — the global benchmark. Your broker's price sits a few units either side because of the spread. Use it to size a trade or check margin.

FAQ

Common questions

Where does the live gold price on this page come from?

The live price reflects the XAU/USD spot market, which is quoted in US dollars per ounce across interbank and venue pricing. It is a reference feed, not your broker's executable quote, so use it to understand the market rather than to assume the exact fill you will receive.

Why is my broker's gold quote different from the live price shown here?

Your broker's quote includes its own spread and reflects the liquidity it can actually trade against, while a reference feed may sit mid-market or update on a different schedule. The gap depends on the broker's pricing model, the session and how fast the market is moving. Small differences are normal, especially around news.

Does the live price update in Ugandan shillings or dollars?

It updates in US dollars per ounce, because that is how XAU/USD is quoted everywhere. To read it in USh, multiply by the USh/USD rate you can actually access, which for most readers means the rate behind a Mobile Money or bank conversion. That rate is not the same as the mid-market rate.

Can I place a trade from the live price on this page?

No. The page shows a reference price and does not connect to any trading account. Orders go through your broker's platform, such as MT4, MT5, cTrader or the FxPro app, at the price the broker quotes at that moment. Always confirm the executable price in the platform before you commit.

Why does the price sometimes freeze or jump on a live feed?

A live feed can pause when the underlying market is thin, such as the daily rollover or the weekend close, and jump when it reopens or when a major release hits. Treat any sudden gap as a sign liquidity is poor, and avoid assuming you can enter or exit at the last price you saw.
